About this role
You will own server-side foundations for client products: APIs, Postgres (or equivalent), auth boundaries, jobs, and the boring reliability work that keeps production calm. Ideal if you enjoy clear contracts with frontend/mobile and hate silent failures.
What success looks like
- Ships an API or service change with migrations and rollback thinking
- Adds logging/metrics that make incidents diagnosable
- Keeps contracts stable for frontend and mobile consumers
- Leaves runbooks and schema notes another engineer can trust
Responsibilities
- Design and ship APIs, services, and data models for production apps
- Own migrations, background jobs, and operational readiness
- Partner with frontend/mobile on durable contracts
- Improve observability, performance, and failure handling
- Document systems so client teams can operate them after handover
Requirements
- Several years building production backend services
- Strong experience with Node.js/TypeScript and/or Python APIs
- Solid relational database instincts (Postgres preferred)
- Clear written English for async collaboration
Nice to have
- AWS, Azure, or GCP operations experience
- Queue/event-driven systems familiarity
- Arabic reading/writing is a plus
